Letter to Jordan – Feb. 15, 2007

(When Jordan was in 7th grade, he was given an assignment to write to a family member.  He and Grandma exchanged letters for the next few months – these will be transcribed and marked as “Jordan and Lola Letters” for the blog.  Here is the first response from Grandma – for this one, we do not have the original letter he sent that prompted this reply.)

Feb. 15, 2007

Dear Jordan,

When I was teen age, this my things I’m doing everyday. about 50 us, all teen age, boys + girls, go work from our place to Binakiak, bario of Norsa (?) to (word) mango plantation of Mr. Carpenter pulling weeds, happy walking about 4 kilometers from our place to Binakiak, everybody is happy. Manager pay us. Grandpa my father is very smart.

We are very happy walking together to work, nothing about school thats my life when I was 16 years old.  When I reach 24 years old, I met your Grandpa Quintin A. Ramil. he in the Navy since 1929.  We were engage for 6 years.  Then in Dec. 2, 1934, he went to Philippines + asked to marry, so 1934, Dec. 2, we were married.  We were very happy life so we have seven children.  Quintin Jr., Norma, Mario, Alohalindo born in Hawaii Tripple hosptial, Gloria, Cesar, Mike.  I’m proud all our children are in good life + healthy so all grandchildren + great grandchildren. thank God for all of this.  I’m very very old of my life, happy.  God give all strength of my life + everything.  Thanks God I pray for all you.

Don’t forget to pray all time, + make everything right.  Thanks everything.  God give us everything we need.  I’m very old + hope + pray God will take care of me.

Hope all of our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren will be care, happy of our God.

Take good care of yourselves + be healthy.

lunch to Comareng charing Eleoze’s mom 11:30 a.m. with Leila. (Note I might forget) Connie, Fil’s sister is in hospital in N.E. for Cesarean birth of 5 month pregnancy, the baby died inside, so the Dr. does Cesarean to get the baby out. she is doing fine. coming home soon. Monday Jan. 14, 1974.

Romy’s business is illegal during Martial Law, so Romy said the appliance + sewing machine better to be burned, than they will arrest him + his family. About P200,000 worth of jukeboxes, slot machine was burned. Cesar told us + Luming said it’s better Trining did not come crazy.

Jan. 14, 1974 – Lunch to Comareng Charing’s house – hipong – mala-lake, pakbet, alimasag, saging dinalao pa ako ni Rene mag daling (word) + suman. Eleazer, ekao dao ang Ninong ni Edgar 5 months old, anak ni Rene, may proxy eat rice + Coke. (Note to Eleazer from Herninia (Nene) your Time savings is renwed o.k. $50.00 check was cash last Dec. 1973.

Go to Carinio, Paniqui with Leila, Eddie + Mandong Driver, anak ni Comadrong Ester I gave him P20.00.  Aeong send pork meat to Comadrong Istilita, 1 preserve to Rosalia 2 itlog na balat, Comadreng Maree 1 bottle of matamis na beans + 1 bag candy + pork from Aeong-Money given to Rosalia P50.00 Ruthy P10.00 Abeng P10.00 Pedro’s wife P15.00 Patring P10.00 Luming P10.o0 Eunice give P10.00 From Carinio stop by Gov. house, they were not home, theyre in Baguio see Manang Maria + gave her their gifts + to Berto.  Left the gift to Gov table went to Comadre’s Istilita’s hosue, while eating lunch, Berto arrive, Conrado arrive, so Fil’s uncle, Mom + Auntie.  After eating we went to pance, Comadre Maree with us passed by Lumings house served us coffee + crackers.  gift give to her, Manang Irmen went to Taltalon, Trining + family went to Manila, so I give the gifts to Cesar who was there.  Then drive again passed by Comadre Marcee’s house, served us variety of bread including Esemedang Malolos + coke.  She gave me a present plus Fil’s pictures + dresses, go again to Comadres Istilitas house, eat dinner again + sleep there.  In the morning we eat breakfast, pictures taken in front of their house + Paniqui Plaza, went to Eliong’s house, had conversations with his wife, while we are waiting for Eliong who come from Pura, he is very busy.  He was so happy to see me he said, batang bata ako at mataba, marame silong kunto noong kayay malilut pa, pareng masayong masaya ang magasawang Eiong, ice cream at masarap na pionono ang ipinakain sa amin. pinipigil kame ng tanghalian, pero maaga pa.  Take pictures in front of their house, Mrs. Castro + me, and the group, we left Paniqui 10:00 a.m. arrived Carinio 10:15 a.m. wait for buko to bring home, Pedro’s wife offer us cake + crackers.  We take home walang buko, hito, panutcha bananas.  Abong brought home from Nueva Viscaya, we stop Tarlac + Calumpit to buy something to eat in the car.  We arrived Novaliches 1:30 p.m.  Thank God for our nice trip to Carinio, Paniqui Pance + Canan, and the hospitality of Compadre, Comadre Josey, Chet, Boy, Manuel Roxas.  Sorry for Tony’s accident going Clark Air base to meet Conrado in the third time going to Clark Air base.

Saturday wake up 6:00 a.m. exercise take a bath, dress up, comb my hair, packed my things going to Sacramento to see Roxanne having her second baby, Jr. + Tessie are there. eat raisins bread, yam, hot chocolate for breakfast, wash laundry, dry, fold put in places, watch TV put dishes in place shelves, wash dishes, Gloria cook oatmeal for breakfast, we ate breakfast, chew 2 tums to digest my food 12:00 take a nap, up 1:30 4:00 p.m. go to Sacramento I throw good today, 2:00 p.m. eat rice with picadillo for lunch, 4:00 p.m. ready to go to Sacramento.  Rox house, arrived 6:00 p.m. eat rice – for dinner – chicken nilaga with potatoes + cabbage, pechay, Tessie is cooking.  We at Louie’s truck me, Gloria + Louie, Jen + John reach Sacramento 11:30 p.m. we sleep at Rox house, me, Leslee, Louie, Gloria, Cesar, Mike, John Jordan.  On the morning, Jr. Tessie cooked fried rice, eggs, sausage, bacon.  I eat chocolate, coffee orange juice for breakfast, we ate at 8:00 a.m. all of us, Rox is fine, At 9:00 a.m. all of us left Rox house, except Jr. + Tessie stay waiting for Roxanne give birth, God help her to have her baby.  Arrive Concord safe + sound at 10:3o a.m. eat heavy breakfast.  Tessie cooked Rox house.
